Health Care not Warfare -- 9th District

LUNCH AND LOBBY VISIT for HEALTH CARE NOT WARFARE. We'll meet for lunch at Shield's Pizzeria of Troy (1476 W. Maple Road, just west of Crooks, in the banquet room). Hear from health care reform and peace activists about our misguided budget priorities.

At 1:15 pm we will go to Congressman Gary Peters' office (560 Kirts Blvd. #105 in Troy) and demand that the $33 billion supplemental funding for the war in Afghanistan be used for health care and other domestic purposes instead. Congressman Peters' office is aware that we'll be there. An aide will be greeting us.

Background: Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) are calling for vigils at congressional offices across the country on the third Wednesday of each month. Twelve of us visited Gary Peters' office in January to oppose supplemental war funding for Afghanistan. We plan to speak with a louder voice in February.
